About the role
We support what we build, sometimes for years. That is only sustainable if deployment is automated, infrastructure is described in code, and something wakes us up before a client notices.
You will work on that machinery: pipelines, environments, monitoring, and the runbooks that turn a 3am page into a checklist.
What you will actually do
- Build and fix CI/CD pipelines.
- Describe infrastructure in code rather than in a console someone clicked once.
- Set up logging, metrics, and alerts that mean something.
- Tighten secrets handling, access, and backups.
- Write the runbook for the thing you just automated.
What you need on day one
- Comfortable on a Linux command line.
- Some scripting: Bash, Python, or both.
- You understand DNS, TLS, and HTTP well enough to debug them.
Nice to have, genuinely optional
None of these are requirements. They are listed so you know what would be a head start, not so you can talk yourself out of applying. Apply if the list above fits.
- Docker, Terraform, or Kubernetes.
- AWS, GCP, Azure, or Vercel beyond the free tier.
- Any experience being responsible for uptime.
What you should expect to learn
- How production environments are structured and separated.
- How to make deployments boring, which is the highest compliment in this field.
- Practical security: least privilege, secret rotation, audit trails.
