About the role

This is the seat for someone who has shipped before and is tired of only owning a slice of it. You will take a client engagement from a rough scope to something running in production, and stay with it through support.

You will also review intern work in the workspace. Roughly a fifth of the job is making other people better, and we would rather say that up front than surprise you with it.

What you will actually do

  • Lead the build on one or two client engagements at a time.
  • Make the architecture calls, and write down why.
  • Review pull requests and intern task submissions with real feedback.
  • Be a point of contact for a client, including when something has gone wrong.
  • Keep the standards: tests, docs, accessibility, and deployments that roll back.

What you need on day one

  • Three or more years shipping software professionally.
  • Depth in TypeScript or Python, and working competence in the other.
  • You have designed a schema, and lived with the consequences.
  • You can talk to a non-technical client without either condescending or hiding.

Nice to have, genuinely optional

None of these are requirements. They are listed so you know what would be a head start, not so you can talk yourself out of applying. Apply if the list above fits.

  • Next.js and Postgres specifically.
  • Consulting or agency experience.
  • Cloud infrastructure and CI ownership.
  • Having mentored juniors before.

What you should expect to learn

  • Breadth. Small team, many industries, a new domain every few months.
  • Client-facing judgement: scope, expectation, and when to say no.
